Welcome to Week 20!
Happy New Year NES Families! We hope that 2024 will be productive and prosperous for you and your loved ones.
With the holidays behind us, it is time to kick in the gear and greet the new year with lots of new learning. Check out the school updates and other important information below.
Teacher Work Day
Monday, January 8 is a Teacher Work day and there is no school for students. Students return on Tuesday, January 9. Monday, January 15 is also a holiday in observance of Martin Luther King Day and the school is closed.
Read at Home Plan
The Read-At-Home Plan Resources for families have been updated! This informative document has been revised with updated information including expanded eligibility for the New Worlds Reading Initiative to now include eligible PreK-grade 5 students, a section related to English Language Learners and more. Be sure to check it out!
School Data
Here is the overall snapshot of our school-wide learning and growth from PM1 to PM2. The colors stand for student achievement levels as follows:
Red - Level 1 (lowest)
Yellow - Level 2
Green - Level 3
Blue - Level 4
Purple - Level 5 (highest)
Our instructional coaches have been busy updating the Multi Tiered Systems and Support (MTSS) plans to enhance daily instruction for the lowest performing students (red). Many of our teachers have stepped up to offer after school support through tutorials for students who need just a little extra push (yellow). If your child brought home a tutoring permission slip, please return it as soon as possible as out groups are filling up quickly!
Individual APTT Meetings
Classroom teachers will be reaching out to families to schedule the individual Academic Parent Teacher Team meetings during the month of January. These meetings are held to review your child’s progress in class. These meetings also provide a great opportunity to meet the teacher if you are new to NES!
SAC Meeting
Our School Advisory Committee meeting will take place on Thursday - January 11 at 4 PM. Regular school business will be discussed.
Report Card Day
January 16 is the 2nd 9 Weeks Report Card Day. Awards for grades 3-5 are also held that day as well as the 3-5 Straight A’s Luncheon at Golden Corral.
