Welcome to the Last Week of School!

It is hard to believe that we are at the finishing stretch! It has been quite a year - with lots of new learning and even some new challenges. One week to go - let's finish strong!!!

We have concluded the state assessments! Thank you families for ensuring good attendance. Everyone worked hard, and we are very proud of our students! Any students needing to attend a makeup session will do so on Monday, May 22.

Student Test Scores

Our preliminary proficiency levels (percent of students on or above grade level) are as follows:

  • 3rd Grade Reading - 54%
  • 4th Grade Reading - 57%
  • 5th Grade Reading - 50%

  • 3rd Grade Math - 61%
  • 4th Grade Math - 60%
  • 5th Grade Math - 46%

For students in grades 3-5, F.A.S.T. scores can now be accessed via Florida Family Portal. For students in K-2, the STAR assessment results will be available in the Florida Family Portal  mid June. Copies of student score reports are shared with parents at our end of the year APTT meetings where teachers will also help parents understand the scoring of these assessments.

End of the Year APTT Meetings

End of the year APTT meetings will continue this week. These meetings will take place in your child’s classroom. We hope you have an opportunity to attend these meetings! They are combined with other grade level events to make it easier to attend.

Parental Involvement Planning Input Needed

NES Parental Engagement Teacher Team is meeting on Monday, May 22 from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM. We also need parental input! Please send your input on the following questions to Dr. Robinson at robinsont@okee.k12.fl.us:

  • What are some parental involvement activities that you would like to see offered at NES?

  • What were some barriers for participating in parental involvement activities that took place this year?

  • What improvements could be made to our APTT meetings to better suit your needs?

  • What decision making opportunities would you like to have at NES?

  • How would you like to see Parental Engagement funds used this year?
