Welcome to Week 34! 

We are halfway through the final grading period of the year! 

Monday, April 17 is a Teacher Work Day and there is no school for students. Friday, April 21 is an Early Release Day and students’ dismissal starts at 11:30 AM.

Swim Unit

Swim unit continues this week - fingers crossed for good weather! Be sure to send your child with a swimsuit and a dry towel on their scheduled swim dates. Tight hemmed shorts and a tight tank top may be worn if a suit is not available. The school does NOT have additional swim suits and/or towels.

Progress Reports

Wednesday, April 19 is Progress Report Day. Please be on the lookout for your child’s progress report in their take home folder, review it with them, and return to school, signed.

Spring Picture Orders

Spring picture packets were sent home with students on Friday. If you would like to keep them, please submit payment with the envelope included. If not, please return the pictures. Pictures or money are due by April 28. 

Tutorial Update

Just a reminder that this is the final week for after school tutorial sessions. The final day for the tutorial is Thursday, April 20. A huge thank you to all the tutors, and all the students who diligently attended all of the sessions.

Math Bowl Practice continues on Wednesdays.

Battle of the Books 

Battle of the Books will take place on Thursday, April 20 at Freshman Campus Auditorium. We wish the best of luck to our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade teams representing NES at this event!

Climate Surveys

2022-2023 Climate Surveys are open until April 28. The good news is that the district survey and Title I survey are combined, so there is only one survey to take! We hope you have a few minutes to give us your feedback. We currently have 26 parent surveys submitted and we would like to encourage all parents to provide their input.

2022-2023 ESE Parent Survey

Additionally, the FLDOE 2022-2023 ESE Parent Survey window is now open! The survey is open to all parents of children with an IEP receiving ESE services from preschool age through grade 12. Here is the link to access: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ESEParentSurvey. The survey is accessible through June 30, 2023.

NES Talent Show

NES Talent Show tryouts are on Friday, April 21 (EarlyRelease Day). Students must have a permission slip on file to try out.  The Talent Show will be held on May 18, 2023.

We cannot wait to see all the talent we have at NES!

Spring State Assessments

Round three of state assessments is scheduled to start in two weeks. Letters explaining the assessment procedures were sent home with students last week. Above is our assessment schedule with grade level testing dates. Please ensure that your child can be at school, on time, and remain all day on their designated test date.

AR Star Readers

4th 9 weeks AR goals are as follows:

  • KG: Promotion Ready (all letters, sounds, and sight words)
  • 1st Grade: 9 points
  • 2nd-3rd Grade: 12 points
  • 4th-5th Grade: 14 points

School Safety

All students have access to the Fortify FL reporting app on their Chromebooks. Fortify FL posters posted around campus to remind students they can report suspicious activity at any time using the app.
