Welcome to Week 5!

Happy Labor Day weekend! We hope that everyone is enjoying their long weekend and extra family time!

There will be a short but busy week ahead with NWEA Science assessment in grades 3-5, Progress Reports on Thursday, and Academic Parent Teacher Team meetings on Friday. 

Academic Parent Teacher Team (APTT) Meetings

We believe that the best educational outcome can be achieved in collaboration with our families. NES holds three APTT meetings per year to discuss instructional programs and grade level expectations, and review students’ progress in class.

The first meetings of the year will take place on Friday, September 10 after students' dismissal. Kindergarten and 1st grade parents will receive the Student Success binders at our face to face meetings as outlined above. Second through 5th grade meetings will be held virtually.

Important Information for Parents

  • Student Code of Conduct booklets were sent home with students last week. Please review the contents of the booklet and return the last page with the Notice of Receipt, signed, by Friday, September 10. Students will be also discussing the Student Code of Conduct in class.

  • 4 Week Notification letters were sent home with students on Friday. The intent of these letters is to inform families of their child’s teacher’s certification. This information can also be accessed on the district website at http://okee.k12.fl.us/out-of-field-notifications. 

  • To access bus Information -  click on this link. Type in your home address, use the “stops” tab to find the nearest stops.

Additional At Home Learning Resources

Many web based resources are available for students. Students can access all these programs through their Classlink  account at: https://launchpad.classlink.com/okeechobee using their computer login information.

 When students are quarantined, paper packets can be picked up from our office for grades K-1. Students in grades 2-5 have their assignments in their Google Classroom.

PBIS Days

Kindergarten students had a blast last Friday in celebration of their first PBIS day. Students wore pajamas and made pancakes.

The rest of the grade levels will have their PBIS days on October 7. In order to participate, students have to be in good standing with their behavior at school as well as on the school bus.

COVID-19 Decision Tree

OCSB is following the COVID-10 Decision Tree for interpreting the return to school requirements for students. As always - thank you for keeping your child at home when sick!

School Safety

All students have access to the Fortify FL reporting app on their Chromebooks at school. Fortify FL posters posted around campus to remind students they can report suspicious activity at any time using the app.
