Welcome to Week 4!

Thank you for reading our newsletter!

Our guiding principle this week is “Work hard, be kind, and amazing things will happen”. We will be looking for examples of this around the campus to share with parents on our NES Facebook page.

New Worlds Reading Initiative

The New Worlds Reading Initiative is a free, statewide book program that can help build your child’s library at home. Families have to sign up to receive books. Please see the flyer below for details. Click here to enroll:

Get Involved!

Parental involvement is important to us! There are multiple ways you can get involved.

PTO

Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) helps us run school events, and hold fundraisers to ensure funding for student and staff initiatives. The first PTO meeting of the year will take place on Wednesday, September 7 at 4PM in room 137. We hope you will join us!

SAC

If you would like to help out with decision making about the school business in general, please consider joining our School Advisory Committee. Here are the dates for our SAC meetings this year.

APTT

Last but not least, NES holds Academic Parent Teacher Team (APTT) meetings to keep families up to date about instructional programs, and share their child’s progress in class. The first APTT meetings will be held after we complete our first round of state assessments. Stay tuned for our APTT dates!

School Store Fundraiser

The easiest fundraiser of the year is here! Our School Store Fundraiser kick-off starts on Monday. Students will be bringing home an envelope with the fundraiser information.

Here are three easy steps for the parents to follow:

  1. Scan the QR code or go to schoolstore.net and sign up using our school ID #144293
  2. Send emails inviting family, friends, and co-workers to support your student
  3. Return the Envelope with the Prize Code. Students who return their completed envelopes will receive a fun participation price!

The fundraiser ends on Friday, September 16.

State Assessments

The first Florida Assessment of Students Thinking (FAST) Progress Monitoring continues this week. A letter explaining this assessment was sent home with students on Friday, August 19. Click here to access the FAST Parent Information Sheet pictured above.

Families can access students’ scores through Family Portal. To access the informational flyer pictured above, click here: Family Portal.
