Tuesday, March 24

Hello Parents,

Yesterday, our teachers were super excited about the opportunity to get together and plan the rollout of our distance learning for the upcoming week. We will continue meeting with upper grade levels today as well as tomorrow in order to put together learning plans that are suitable for our first ever attempt of at-home learning. We will start small, but add on as families get more comfortable with our new way of work.

A huge thank you goes out to our district office and IT department for allowing us to start the Chromebook distribution a day earlier. Two additional time slots were added (Wednesday, 11:00-1:00, and 3:00-6:00 PM) to accommodate our families. Information about the logistics for the distribution will be shared tomorrow.

We understand that one of the barrieres for distance learning in our community is internet access. Lack of access would prevent even the most willing learner from being able to do their work. With that in mind, several internet service providers in the community are now offering affordable access, and others have agreed to waive data caps for the use of WiFi hotspots.

Additionally, community wireless areas are available, and the school district is working on establishing more. Please see the informational flyer with details for these options. We hope that your family will find an option that works for you during this unprecedented need to transition to distance learning by Monday, March 30.

Last but not least, we would like to ask our community to come together and share the resources that are available. Please remember that this is for our students who are the future of our little community. While paper-based materials will be made available as a last resort, students will have a more authentic learning experience when they can use the online programs that they are familiar with at school, and use the learning platforms that allow daily interaction with their teacher.

Please do not hesitate to call us should you have any questions!

Sincerely,

Dr. Tuuli Robinson

Principal of North Elementary School
