Welcome Back!

We are very excited about the start of school! In an effort to keep our families informed about the important updates, a Weekly Memo for Parents will be published each week. We will share it via Facebook, NES website, as well as via e-mail with families who have an active e-mail on file in Skyward. You can view past memos on our website at http://nes.okee.k12.fl.us/

Open House Documents

If you visited us for the Open House, you are well ahead of the game! Thank you!!!

Once you have reviewed your child’s paperwork, please return the following forms to your child’s homeroom teacher:

First Day of School - Wednesday, August 10

We cannot wait to see our students! Parent Drop Off starts at 7:40 AM. Students may enter the classrooms starting 7:50 AM. There will be many helpers in the hallway to help everyone find their way! To avoid the first day jitters, parents may walk their child to class this week. If you choose to walk your child, please keep in mind that this is not a time to meet and greet the teacher. Let’s be mindful of other students who came alone, and will need their teacher’s undivided attention.

Tardy bell rings at 8:10 AM.

Food on Campus

Students are asked to consume their food in the cafeteria. If you send your child with breakfast, please allow ample time for them to eat it before going to class at 8:10 AM. Please keep in mind that we serve free breakfast every day!

Free Breakfast and Lunch

Breakfast and lunch are free to all students. Lunch menu this week is as follows:

  • Wednesday: Chicken nuggets / turkey & cheese sandwiches
  • Thursday: Burrito / Cheese burger
  • Friday: Pizza / PBJ

Getting Home

We cannot wait to see our students, but we also want to make sure that we can send them home as planned. Please ensure that your child’s teacher knows how your child is to get home. If you need to make different arrangements during the day, please call our office at 863-462-5100 ASAP and no later than noon on the first day of school. Going forward, all changes must be communicated to the office no later than 2:30 PM each day.

Car Rider Procedures

For students’ safety, NES uses Parent Pickup Cards and structured pickup procedures. Families received a set of cards at the Open House. If you could not attend, please try to come and get the cards today.

Dismissal starts at 2:50 PM. Please pull upon the side that allows your student to enter the car from the middle. Students will be called in groups, and cars will not be dismissed until all students in the group have entered their vehicles. Students who have not got picked up will be escorted to the office at 3:15 PM. Please be patient the first day - things make take a little longer!

Bus Information

Need Bus Stop info? This link will help! Type in your home address, use the “stops” tab to find the nearest stops.

After Care

If you would like for your child to attend after care, your child must be previously enrolled. At this time, the aftercare is full and any new students are on a waiting list. After care starts on Wednesday.

School-Family Communication

Please stay in communication with your child’s teacher! Our teachers are using Class DOJO for important information and additional tips for a successful school year (teachers will invite you to their group). Additionally, a take home folder is used to send home important information.  Since the classroom teachers will know your child the best, all academic concerns should always be directed to the teacher so that they can assist you. If a desired outcome is not reached, please contact the school office.

School Shirts

2021-2022 T-shirts are available to purchase at our office! The new shirts cost $15. We also have a selection of previous years’ T-shirts, and these are $10. All proceeds go to support our PTO.

School Safety

Student safety is our priority!  A scheduled safety drill will take place during the first week of school. Regular drills are held monthly to ensure that everyone on campus is familiar with the safety procedures.

Additionally, all students have access to the Fortify FL reporting app on their Chromebooks at school. Fortify FL posters posted around campus to remind students they can report suspicious activity at any time using the app.

Thank you for allowing us to educate your child this year. Let’s make it a great year! Go Tigers!!!

Sincerely,

Dr. Tuuli Robinson

Principal of North Elementary School
