Florida Standards Assessments

Florida Standards Assessment in grades 3-5 will continue this week. Students in grades 4 and 5 will participate in FSA English Language Arts assessment on May 4-5. Students in grades 3-5 will participate in FSA Math assessment on May 5-6, and students in grade 5 will participate in FCAT science assessment on May 10-11. Parents, please help us by making sure that students are at school, on time, on their test days. Our students have worked hard and we are so proud of them! We will rock the FSA!!!

Teachers and Staff Appreciation Week

We are celebrating our teachers and staff this week to recognize their hard work and dedication. We would like to thank our PTO and NES families for all the assistance in making this week extra special. Please help us support our Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week theme by wearing western wear on Monday! Tuesday, May 3, is a Teacher Appreciation Day. Students are encouraged to bring a card, a note, or a flower to their teacher to show their appreciation.

No More After School Tutoring 

Our afterschool tutoring sessions have ended. We are so appreciative of teachers who assisted with our tutoring groups, and so proud of all the students who attended. aMth Bowl groups will continue to meet until the District Math Bowl event on May 17.


Zonewaiver Applications for School Choice are Now Available

The zone waiver applications are now available for the 2022-2023 school year. If your child is attending NES currently and has a zonewaiver on file, you will not need to fill out another one for the upcoming school year.

Summer Programs


Please follow this link 2022 OCSB Summer Program Registration to explore and sign up for the summer programs. K-2 Math and Reading Camp and Grades 3 reading camp are by invite only. If students are invited to specific camps, they should attend those before signing up for other camps.

Accelerated Reader 4th 9 Weeks Goals

The AR reading goals for students this 9 weeks are:

  • 1st grade: 9
  • 2-5 grade: 12

Students who meet their AR reading goal will participate in AR Carnival with our Reading Coach.


4th 9 Weeks PBIS Days

Here are the PBIS dates and activities for the final 9 weeks of school. Students must be in good standing with discipline to attend.

Students can access their web-based instructional programs at https://launchpad.classlink.com/okeechobee using their computer login information.

To get better at reading, students should read 20 minutes each day. Students are encouraged to take reading as well as vocabulary tests on Accelerated Reader (AR) at https://global-zone05.renaissance-go.com/welcomeportal/73214 

 


Free Books!

There is still time to sign up for the free book delivery program from the Florida Department of Education. Families can sign up to receive a book by mail during each month of the school year. Here is the link to enroll: https://www.newworldsreading.com/fl/en/home.html.

 

2022-2023 Calendar

The School Board has approved the instructional calendar for the 2022-2023 school year. Check it out!



School Safety

All students have access to the Fortify FL reporting app on their Chromebooks at school. Fortify FL posters posted around campus to remind students they can report suspicious activity at any time using the app.
