Welcome to Week 2!

We are off to a great start! Thank you parents for reading our newsletter! Just a reminder that starting Monday, we are moving back to a limited campus visitation. Students are to walk to cafeteria or to class independently. Families are always welcome to visit our office!

VPK Starts on Monday

We are excited to welcome aboard our youngest Tigers as part of the Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten program! VPK parents - please refer to the guidance shared at the VPK orientation.

FLDOE Information

Important information from the Florida Department of Education this year can be accessed in the FLDOE 2022-2023 School Year Information Guide.

Accelerated Reader Goals

At NES, we promote the culture of reading. To make reading extra fun, we encourage students to read and take AR tests on books they have read. Students who meet their 9 weeks grade level AR goals are invited to attend an AR reward event with Mrs. Williams, our librarian and our Reading Coach!

Our 1st 9 weeks AR goals are as follows:

  • 1st grade - 3 points
  • 2nd and 3rd grade - 9 points
  • 4th and 5th grade - 11 points

Kindergarten students can earn their way into these events by learning all of their letters and sounds!

After Care

Please visit http://okee.k12.fl.us/aftercare for after care information.

School-Family Communication

Please stay in communication with your child’s teacher! Our teachers are using Class DOJO for important information and additional tips for a successful school year (teachers will invite you to their group). Additionally, a take home folder is used to send home important information.  Since the classroom teachers will know your child the best, all academic concerns should always be directed to the teacher so that they can assist you. If a desired outcome is not reached, please contact the school office.

Fridays are Spirit Days

This Friday is our first Spirit Day -let’s show our spirit by wearing a NES shirt! The classroom with the most school spirit will get to enjoy popsicles at the end of the day!

New T-shirts are available to purchase at our office for $15. We also have a selection of previous years’ T-shirts, and these are $10. All proceeds go to support our PTO.
