Welcome to Week 6!

Happy Grandparents’ Day to all of our NES grandparents! Thank you for filling the world with extra love! 

This is a short week for students. Monday is a Professional Learning Day for teachers, and there is no school for students. We are looking forward to seeing students again on Tuesday!



Important Information for Parents

  • Student Code of Conduct booklets were sent home with students in August. Please review the contents of the booklet and return the last page, signed, to your child’s teacher.

  • Long Term Substitute letters were sent home with students on Friday. The intent of these letters is to inform families about a substitute teacher teaching their child in a certain class and/or classes.

  • To access bus Information -  click on this link. Type in your home address, use the “stops” tab to find the nearest stops.


NES Night of the Stars Awards Ceremony

Students in grades 4, 5, and  (last year’s students in grades 3, 4, and 5) who scored on a level 5 on their Florida Standards Assessments will be recognized at the Night of the Stars Awards Ceremony on Thursday at 6 PM. Students received their invites with the event information on Thursday. 


Accelerated Reader Grade Level Goals

We encourage students to read every day. Students are invited to take AR tests to earn points for reading. Students who meet their AR reading goals each 9 weeks will be invited to participate in special events with Mrs. Williams, our Reading Coach. Grade level top readers are also recognized on the morning announcements each week! 

The 1st 9 weeks goals are as follows:

  • 1st gradeL 3 points
  • Grades 2-5: 9 points

When students are quarantined, paper packets can be picked up from our office for grades K-1. Students in grades 2-5 have their assignments in their Google Classroom.

PBIS Days

NES uses Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) to foster positive behaviors among our students. 

Above are the 1st 9 weeks PBIS events that have been planned. In order to participate, students have to be in good standing with their behavior at school as well as on the school bus.

COVID-19 Decision Tree

OCSB is following the COVID-10 Decision Tree for interpreting the return to school requirements for students. As always - thank you for keeping your child at home when sick!


School Safety

All students have access to the Fortify FL reporting app on their Chromebooks at school. Fortify FL posters posted around campus to remind students they can report suspicious activity at any time using the app.
