Welcome to Week 22!

Welcome to another week - thank you for reading our newsletter! A paper copy of our Semester 2 Tiger Times listing teachers who teach out of field was sent home last week.

February is Black History Month. On Monday, Mr. Tyrone Smith will read Martin Luther King Jr. “I have a Dream” speech on our morning announcements. Throughout the month, students will get to write about their dream and post it on the Dream Walls in their grade level hallways.

This is the last week for our individual Academic Parent Teacher Team (APTT) meetings. All meetings are held virtually or over the phone.

100 Days of School

Monday, February 1st marks the 100th day of school for our kindergarten students. Our littlest Tigers have sure shown a lot of growth since the beginning of the school year! Be on the lookout for another Kindergarten Smarties flyer after the progress reports that go home on Wednesday!

Fundraiser Time!

School Store (formerly Computers for Education) fundraiser will start on Monday! Parent envelopes will be sent home with students on Monday. Parents can go to www.schoolstore.net and register using the code 144293. Students who return the parent envelope with the Student Prize Code by Tuesday are eligible for a special prize! There are teacher appreciation gifts as well. Thank you for supporting our school!

APM Math Assessments

Students in grades 3-5 will be participating in Math Adaptive Progress Monitoring assessment this week to help us measure their progress towards the end of the year learning goals. A Parents Information session was held last Thursday to review this assessment information for ELA. We will hold another Parents Information Session on Thursday of this week to review math data as well. This session will be held at 6 PM to accommodate families.

Attendance Counts!

Friday, January 29 was the first day of the 11 day student attendance count period for the purpose of determining school funding. As much as we would like to encourage all students to be in attendance, we would like to remind parents that it is more important that we keep students home when they are sick. Students who are on quarantine due to the Health Department guidelines will NOT be marked absent. However, they will be expected to participate in school work during their quarantine. Students who do not participate will be considered absent.

Parents Information Session - Thursday, February 4,  6 PM

On Thursday, we will be holding another monthly Parents’ Information Session. This time, we will be discussing the APM math assessment that students are taking in grades 3-5. We will explain how to interpret the assessment results, and the next steps.
