Welcome to Week 8

Welcome to another wonderful week at NES! APTT (Academic Parent Teacher Team) meetings will be held this week. Links to these virtual meetings are shared by teachers via Class DOJO as well as in our school-wide APTT Meetings Schedule.

Safety Curriculum

October is National Bullying Prevention month. Specific safety-related lessons are delivered to students by Deputy Miller through special area classes this week as follows:

  • 1st grade: Stranger Danger

  • 3rd grade: Bullying Prevention

  • 4th grade: Cyber Bullying

Additionally, we continue with the first round of Too Good for Violence lessons through special area classes on Wednesdays.

FTE Week

This is the FTE survey week that is used to verify students’ attendance in each course and class. Information from this survey is used to determine the funding for our school.

Students’ attendance this week is more important than ever!

Week 8 Important Documents

Students’ iReady Diagnostics assessment results in ELA and Math will be sent home this week. Please refer to these handouts, in addition to the data presented at our APTT meetings, to better understand your child’s current placement and learning needs in both ELA and Math.

A required Reading Deficiency letter will be sent to families of students in grades K-3 who demonstrate a significant reading deficiency based on their ELA diagnostic assessment (or FLKRS in kindergarten).

Other important documents that have been shared with families are listed below. We will remove these links from the weekly newsletter starting the 2nd 9 weeks, but you can always find them in our earlier newsletters!
